The teaching of history should convey only facts and be free from political motives, personal opinions, biases, propaganda, and other common tactics of distortion. Every claim that is made about history should also be accompanied by documentation proving its basis. Only responsible scholarship and teaching should be permitted. Those who intend to support particular political interests and agendas should have their biased historical interpretations criticized for lacking proof.

Teaching both sides of any historical event is often considered "liberal" More recently (i.e. since Bush) the agenda in public schools is to remove controversial issues from the school system, thus eliminating those items from the public thought. -

But our current public education in America does not do that right now. We might never work towards getting many perspectives and stating facts. History is a written story. every story tellers see's things from thier perspective. We will never know what actually happens unless we experience it for our selves.
I believe in teaching people how powerful they are by allowing them to spend time in a peaceful natural space that promotes self discovery. The only history that is true in my opinion is the history of self.
